Hello Dear Reader,
It's very difficult to have no waste. We buy UHT. Milk in tetra packs, they can't be recycled. Our solution is to buy fresh milk in plastic containers that can be recycled. We can change this.
My cottage cheese wrapper was brought home, washed out and out in the recycling.
My family sized pot of natural yogurt is now a pen pot on my desk.
I like an idea a reader shared. I'm keeping the loo roll centres ( instead of putting them in our recycling bins in the car park) and stuffing them tightly with screwed up junk mail and making logs for our wood burner. Anything that burns becomes fuel, even egg boxes.
Dearly Beloved has pallets gleaned from the industrial estate to break down as fire wood and kindling to light our stove.
I shop in Lidl and Aldi and most products are pre wrapped. I consciously bought loose veg, tied the bags carefully and unknotted them when I got home to use them again.
I don't have a compost heap, when I did, nothing rotted very quickly. I tip vegetable matter into my bags of grass and hedge trimmings. When they're full, we take them to the recycling centre and empty them into the garden bins. These are finely minced and composted.
There's a lot we can't recycle and it's not an easy project.
I'll keep you updated.
Love Froogs xxxxx
