Thank you for your lovely comments and support yesterday. Eating is currently no where near as thrifty as it used to be. My menu for today was:
Breakfast - fat free natural 150g Greek style yogurt and 100g strawberries with a sprinkle of stevia. Large pots of yogurt in Lidl is 65p. Breakfast was about 70p
Lunch - 100g of 17% fat soft French cheese, green salad, a large tomato and 40ml of fat free dressing. The cheese was £1.50 for 250g. Lunch was about £1.
Dinner - 160g of rib eye steak, fat removed, spinach, tomato and onion. Dessert was a Lidl egg custard. Dinner was about £2.50.
Snacks - two Pink Lady apples, Cadbury's highlights hot chocolate. 72p total.
1043 calories for the lot. I use the free app www.myfitnesspal.com and track all my food every day. I'm also careful to weigh and measure all my food. I'm not doing so well on my usual budget of £1 a main meal but I think my health will thank me. I've worked out that eating like this has doubled our food budget, I feel for the families who can't afford this choice and know it's really hard for some families to eat healthily.
I'm off out now to hit the streets for an hour long hilly walk, I find it a really relaxing end to my day.
