Fixing the broken bits

Hello Dear Reader,

A busy day followed by a trip to the GP late this afternoon. Aging is such a nuisance! I had a list today, I should have written it down. I noticed on my notes that my last visit was in December 2011, so I certainly don't cost the health service much at all!

All the usual, still have IBS. Still get migraines but not so many. Have arthritis and Plantar Fasciitis. Now booked in for blood tests, regular cancer screening, cortisone injections and camera work'! Who ever thinks of that for a job?

Imagine it........."Welcome to the careers advice service, what help can I give you with college applications and where do you see yourself in the future?"

"Well, I've always fancied a future in filming colons and bits of large intestines!"

It is indeed an odd career choice and why do they ever think you want to sit with a consultant afterwards and watch "Guts, the movie". Oh well, needs must.

Then the usual, lifestyle discussion. Weighed and told as ever I'm heavier than I should be and need to lose weight. If only I'd been when I'd lost the weight, instead of when I'd put it back on. So, back to trying to get my BMI to the right colour, it's far too far to the end of yellow and too near the red which means in no uncertain terms that I am over-weight and need, for the sake of my joints to get back to the end of yellow nearer to green and preferably to get to an ideal weight and stay there. I like the way doctors say "Three stone off would do it, but two stone would be a start".

I haven't been to the gym in a while because of the Plantar 'effinitis and have been told to do weight bearing exercise to build up muscle to support the aching joints. So, back to bike riding (spin classes) and weight training. I will like it when I get there once I get past the pain of walking there on feet in agony.

Moan over!

God Bless the NHS and long may we have it. We are so lucky to walk into a Dr's office, discuss what's wrong and be told that you are going to be booked in for all relevant investigations and then subsequent treatments.

My give away for tomorrow. A pair of 'Angel' shelves. They were in my daughter's bedroom for years, she doesn't want them and I'm finally letting them go. It's been seven years since she's lived with us and I've had her stuff boxed for quite a while. We've both moved on and neither of us want it so it's going bit by bit.

Remnants of her shabby chic bedroom. These are some of the last few bits.

Letting go of the past is a bit like mending the broken bits of ourselves. Medical treatment is often invasive and unpleasant but it has to be faced up to and it isn't healthy to just leave things. Life is like that too. We have to accept that somethings just don't work even if we try, let then go and move on.

I don't write about my daughter as she doesn't like me to but she's perfectly fine and her life is going well.

Tomorrow, I'm cooking Christmas lunch for several single parents and their children. It's lovely to help out and tomorrow it's just DB and myself in the kitchen as the parents and children will have a fun morning of Christmas crafts and then will sit down to a three course Christmas lunch. The troll won't read this bit........as ever, my time is given willingly and free of charge. They will just write on other sites that I do this for payment; there's no pleasing some people.

I'm really looking forward to it.

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxxx
