Sticky fiery pork and beans.

Hello Dear Reader,

We try to eat healthily for most of the time, but from time to time, only dirty food will do! I love sticky hot and fiery pork and it's a great Friday night 'fakeaway'.

To make this you will need:

4 belly pork slices - £1.89 Aldi
1 tablespoon of chopped chilli
2 tablespoons of grated ginger
1 tablespoon of chopped garlic
3 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of soft brown sugar
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of oyster sauce

1 pack of 19p noodles from Aldi and a tin of green beans, if not a tin of sweet corn.

Definitely dirty food.

Stir all of the chilli, ginger, garlic, soy, sugar, honey and oyster sauce together and marinate the pork steak all day. I make this in the morning and then go off to work for the day.

Cook the belly pork, smothered in the marinade in the oven, always at 180 or thereabouts as the dial has been scrubbed away, the oven is hot and cook the pork for around 30 minutes. The dish will get sticky and black but a 24 hour soak in soapy water gets it all clean.  You want to cook this until the sauce congeals and coats the meat. Take it out of the oven every now and then and turn it so it gets really coated in the sticky fiery sauce. When it's done, the sauce will have reduced to half its former state and the will be thick and sticky.

Cook the noodles as it says on the pack (add 300ml of boiling water and microwave for three minutes). In America, you call these Ramen noodles. They are so cheap. Add the beans and cook for a further two minutes until hot.

Toss the noodles and beans in the remainder of the sticky sauce until coated.

Serve the belly pork cut into mouth sized chunks on top of the noodles and beans.

I add loads of chilli and it's hot and fiery, the ginger makes it really fragrant.

Of course, there has to be a close up.

We have a few Asian supermarkets in Plymouth and I buy chopped ginger there really cheaply. I bought the lazy ginger and chilli in Aldi on special. I keeps forever in the fridge and I have it just when I need it.

I love a Friday night quick and easy supper. I know, it's not healthy, balanced and certainly has too many calories. However, it is delicious!

Over to you, does anyone else use a lazy short cut, mine being ginger, chilli and garlic.

Come back tomorrow for a double give away, a gluten free recipe and tales of Cornwall.

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxx
